Cellulite: how to fight it effectively?

What is cellulite?

Cellulite, also known as "dimples" or "orange peel skin", is the result of inflammation of the fat cells in the body's adipose tissue. It's a cluster of fat cells under the skin that reaches maximum storage capacity, giving the skin a bumpy, unsightly appearance.

Cellulite is most noticeable on the back of the thighs, buttocks, stomach and upper arms. This complex phenomenon results from a combination of factors, including female hormonal variations. Considered a normal physiological phenomenon, cellulite mainly affects women, whatever their age or morphology.

There are genetic reasons for this, since women's bodies contain more fat cells than men's, in order to meet the body's increased needs during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Nearly 9 out of 10 women are affected at some point in their lives at some point in their lives, compared with 1 in 50 men.

How does cellulite form?

Cellulite is a malfunction of the adipose tissue in the hypodermis, i.e. the fat cells

Within the hypodermis, fat cells, or adipocytes, are housed in small, fibrous, fairly rigid compartments. Adipocytes grow in size as storage increases. They can multiply in size up to 50 times. So, when you gain weight, the volume of the fat cell increases.

On the other hand, when we retain water, excess water accumulates within the body's tissues and surrounds fat cells.

These two phenomena have an impact on the fibrous partitions of the hypodermis: they are unable to distend, and are compressed because they are arranged in a grid. As a result, these "little compartments" swell, with repercussions for the dermis and epidermis.

The surface of the skin then becomes bumpy, hence the expressions " peau d'orange" or " capitons ".

The combination and succession of several factors can explain the causes of cellulite:

  • Excess fat

Adipose cellulite can appear as a result of excessive consumption of unhealthy fats (cooked fats, saturated fats) and/or lack of physical activity. Excess fats swell the fat cells (adipocytes), disrupt circulation and cause toxins to accumulate, leading to tissue inflammation. Some areas of the body are more affected than others, simply because fat cells are more numerous there (hips, thighs, buttocks).

  • A circulatory or hormonal problem

Blood circulation problems are due to the compression of lymphatic vessels by overly voluminous fat cells. This leads to an accumulation of fluid in the tissues, causing swelling (edema) which aggravates the circulatory problem. In women, normal hormonal activity, possibly amplified by puberty, pregnancy, menopause or taking the pill, creates fluid retention which contributes to reinforcing the problem.

  • Water retention and waste accumulation

The circulation, thus disturbed by the excess storage or circulatory problem, reduces the capacity of drainage and elimination of waste and causes an accumulation of water and toxins in the tissues which will then swell and form an irregular appearance on the surface of the skin.

How to fight cellulite?

There is no miracle recipe for making cellulite disappear, but there are effective solutions for reducing it . Diet and exercise help, but are not enough, since cellulite is fat that is trapped and poorly irrigated in a network of fibers where the lipolysis process is not very active. Our training alone cannot eliminate cellulite.

To fight cellulite, you need to :

1- Treat the cellulite itself

The idea is to "break up" the dimpled skin with massages to release the fat and make it mobilizable again via the lipolysis process. Massages and creams, anti-cellulite devices or sessions in a specialized institute are all part of the process.

Massages stimulate tissues, tone skin, boost microcirculation and stimulate lymphatic circulation. You can use essential oils (lemon, rosemary, sage, geranium...) or an anti-cellulite draining cream to amplify the effects.

An effective massage is performed daily from bottom to top, ideally after a hot shower to facilitate cream penetration. Palpate-roll is an effective technique, and involves creasing and rolling the skin of the area to be drained with the fingers. Finish your cleansing with a jet of cool water from the ankles to the buttocks.

2- Treat the cause of cellulite or aggravating factors

The idea is to encourage circulation and venous return to promote the elimination of water, toxins and fat, and if necessary, limit fat storage or even release it.

The following tips will help you treat the causes of cellulite:

  • Take a walk! Walking activates the plantar and calf pumps, which ensure 80% of venous return.
  • Drink plenty of fluids. Water or green tea, renowned for its draining effect. Hydration promotes drainage and waste elimination.
  • Avoid smoking: tobacco clogs up cells and disrupts blood circulation.
  • Choose carbohydrates with a low glycemic load (unrefined products) and, to limit their consumption, combine them with fibre (vegetables, legumes, cereals, fruit) and protein.

The Action-Capitons Program: the natural and effective D-LAB solution

D-LAB NUTRICOSMETICS has developed a specially formulated program to treat dimpled skin and its internal causes .

This ultra-complete programme contains 34 active ingredients that work in synergy to flush out excess water, boost blood circulation and activate fat burning, for a firmer body and smoother skin.

anti-cellulite

The Let's Take Action Programme acts on 3 axes:

1 - Promotes the elimination of excess water (Detox Drainant)

Water retention traps fat and gives the skin a padded appearance. Thanks to depurative phytotherapy, excess water is drained away to make room for deep fat. In this formula, fennel and bearberry extracts promote elimination by the urinary tract.

2 - Promotes good blood circulation (Active Circulation Complex)

Thanks to horse chestnut and sweet clover extracts, rich in coumarin, the blood circulation, compressed by the fat cells, will be boosted and the venous walls strengthened to prevent water from escaping again.

3 - Activates the combustion of these released fats (Metabolism Activator)

To accelerate weight loss, the burning of released fat is promoted with kola nut, cayenne pepper and raspberry ketones. Day by day, the body becomes firmer and the skin smoother.
